Carly Rae Jepsen Born November 21 1985 Is A Canadian Singer Songwriter And Musician. After Studying Musical Theatre In 2007 Jepsen Placed Third On The Fifth Season Of Canadian Idol. In 2008 Jepsen Released Her Folk Music-Influenced Debut Studio Album Tug Of War In Canada. Jepsen's Breakthrough Came In 2012 With Her Single "Call Me Maybe" The Song Was The Best-Selling Single Of That Year Selling 18 Million Copies And Reaching Number One In At Least 19 Countries. It Led To Record Deals With School Boy Records And Interscope Records. Later That Year Jepsen Released Her Second Studio Album Kiss. In 2014 She Made Her Broadway Theatre Stage Debut Playing The Titular Character In Cinderella For 12 Weeks. The Following Year She Released Her Third Studio Album Emotion Influenced By 1980s Music Dance-Pop And Synth-Pop. In 2016 Jepsen Performed In The Television Special Grease Live And Voiced The Animated Film Ballerina. Her Fourth Studio Album Dedicated Was Released In 2019 Along With A Follow-Up Titled Dedicated Side B Distributed A Year Later. Her Sixth Studio Album The Loneliest Time Was Released In October 2022 Followed By Her Seventh Studio Album The Loveliest Time Was Released July 2023. Carly Rae Jepsen Has Received Three Juno Awards A Billboard Music Award And An Allan Slaight Award In Addition To Nominations For Grammy Awards MTV Video Music Awards Polaris Music Prize And People's Choice Awards.

It Was Released On June 24 2015 In Japan And On August 21 2015 Worldwide Through 604 School Boy And Interscope Records. Looking To Transition From The "pure Pop"-Oriented Nature Of Kiss Jepsen Found Inspiration In 1980s Music And Alternative Styles. She Enlisted A Team Of Indie-Pop Collaborators Including Dev Hynes Ariel Rechtshaid And Rostam Batmanglij. Emotion Received Highly Positive Reviews From Contemporary Music Critics Who Placed The Album On Many Year-End Lists. Despite This The Album Underperformed Worldwide Debuting At Number Sixteen On The Billboard 200 With 16 153 Units And Number Eight In Canada With 2 600 Copies Sold. However Emotion Was A Success In Japan Where It Was Released Two Months Earlier Debuting At Number Eight With 12 189 Physical Copies Sold And Subsequently Being Certified Gold For Shipments Exceeding 100 000 Copies By The RIAJ. The Album Was Preceded By The Release Of Its Lead Single "I Really Like You" Which Reached Top Five In Several Territories Including The United Kingdom And Japan. It Was Followed By "Run Away With Me" And "Your Type" Both Singles Achieved Moderate Chart Success Around The World. Jepsen Embarked On The Gimmie Love Tour In Support Of The Album In November 2015 With A Second Leg Commencing In February 2016. In April 2016 She Toured Canada In Support Of The Album As The Opening Act For Hedley On Their Hello World Tour. A Companion EP Titled E•MO•TION Side B Was Released On August 26 2016 And Features Eight Songs That Were Cut From Emotion.
