A Gênese Do Álbum Se Deu Após A Saída De Rita Lee Da Gravadora Philips Que Ocorreu Devido A Conflitos Entre A Cantora E Empresários Do Ramo. Assim Rita Recebeu Uma Proposta Da Som Livre Para Gravar Um Disco Sem Limitações Predeterminadas Pelo Selo. Para A Composição A Banda Se Reuniu Numa Casa À Beira Da Represa De Ibiúna. Lá O Grupo Ficou Por Meses Instalado E Segundo Rita Lee "a Coisa Foi Ficando Com Cara De Banda Profissa". O Disco Foi Gravado No Estúdio Eldorado Na Rua Major Quedinho No Centro De São Paulo. Maurício Kubrusly No Jornal Da Tarde De 1975 Criticou Severamente O Álbum Dizendo Que Apenas "Dançar Para Não Dançar" E "Ovelha Negra" Mereciam Elogios. Disse Ainda Que "ainda É Pouco Seria Relaxamento Demais Se Contentar Com Esta Bateria Escandalosa Com A Desordem Ruidosa Da Maioria Dos Acompanhamentos Com A Falta De Expressividade Das Vocalizações. ... Uma Produção Adequada Para Os Fãs Do Gênero Hippie De Butique Meio Louquinha E Acreditando Que O Rock Vai Ou Pode Mudar Qualquer Coisa".
