Sex Pistols Were A Punk Rock Band That Formed In London United Kingdom In 1975. They Are Together With The Clash And The Damned Responsible For Initiating The Punk Movement In The United Kingdom And Inspiring Many Later Punk And Alternative Rock Musicians. Although Their Initial Career Lasted Just Two-And-A-Half Years And Produced Only Four Singles Plus One Studio Album Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols They Are Regarded As One Of The Most Influential Acts In The History Of Modern Popular Music. The Band Is Comprised Of Vocalist Johnny Rotten Guitarist Steve Jones Drummer Paul Cook And Bassist Glen Matlock. Matlock Left The Band In 1977 And Was Replaced By Sid Vicious Who Remained Until The Band's Initial 1978 Breakup. Matlock Rejoined The Band For Their 1996 Reunion And Has Remained With Them Throughout Most Subsequent Reunions Including The Most Recent In 2008. Sex Pistols Were Managed By The Infamous Malcolm McLaren After He Saw Johnny Rotten Sporting A Pink Floyd Shirt With "I Hate" Scribbled On. Impressed By Johnny Rotten's Attitude McLaren Brought Rotten To Audition For Frontman Of The Strand The Band That Would Later Become The Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols Have Been Described By The BBC As "the Definitive English Punk Rock Band" And Are Widely Credited With Initiating The Punk Movement In The United Kingdom And Creating The First Generation Gap Within Rock And Roll. Sex Pistols Emerged As A Response To What Was Perceived To Be The Increasingly Safe And Bloated Progressive Rock And Manufactured Pop Music Of The Mid-1970s. The Band Created Various Controversies During Their Brief Career Which Captivated England But Often Eclipsed Their Music. Their Shows And Tours Repeatedly Faced Difficulties From Authorities And Public Appearances Often Ended In Disaster And Riot. Their 1977 Single God Save The Queen Released During The Build Up To The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Was Widely Regarded As An Attack On The British Monarchy And British Nationalism. The Group Broke Up In 1978 Amid A Turbulent Tour Of The United States But Reunited In 1996 For The "Filthy Lucre" Tour And Have Staged Subsequent Reunion Tours In 2002 And 2003. On 24 February 2006 The Sex Pistols Were Officially Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame But Refused To Attend The Induction Calling The Museum A "piss Stain". To Celebrate The 30th Anniversary Of Their Debut Album The Sex Pistols Reunited For 7 Live Shows. They Played 5 Nights At The Brixton Academy In London Between 8 November And 14 November 1 Night At The MEN Arena In Manchester And 1 Night At The SECC In Glasgow. The Band Last Performed Live In 2008 Are Are Currently On Hiatus As John Lydon Tours With Public Image Ltd. Which Reunited In 2009.

The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle Is The Soundtrack Album Of The Film Of The Same Name By The Sex Pistols. It Also Includes Performances By Other Artists. By The Time The Soundtrack Was Being Prepared Johnny Rotten Had Left The Band And Refused To Participate In The Project So The "proper" Sex Pistols Tracks Were Done By Taking Lydon's Vocals From The October 1976 Demo Session Recordings And Rerecording Their Instrumental Tracks Done By Paul Cook And Steve Jones . The Double Album Features A Significant Number Of Tracks That Omit Lydon Entirely Most Of Them Written And Recorded After He Had Left The Band. These Include Sid Vicious Singing Cover Songs Two New Original Songs "Silly Thing" Sung By Cook And "Lonely Boy" Sung By Jones Tracks Cook And Jones Recorded With Ronnie Biggs The Title Track And "Who Killed Bambi?" Sung By Edward Tudor-Pole And Numerous Novelty Tracks Including French Street Musicians Playing "Anarchy In The UK" And A Medley Of Several Sex Pistols Songs Covered By A Disco Band. Two Further Tracks Were Recorded Along With "Lonely Boy" And "Silly Thing" Between May And July 1978 "Black Leather" And "Here We Go Again". While The Two Songs Did Not End Up On Either The Film Or The Soundtrack Both Were Later Released As Sex Pistols Singles. Along With Rotten People Who Sang On The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle Include Paul Cook – Lead Vocals On "Silly Thing" 1978 Backing Vocals On "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" 1979 Steve Jones – Lead Vocals On "Lonely Boy" Backing Vocals On "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" Lead Vocals On "Friggin' In The Riggin" And Lead Vocals On The Single Release Of "Silly Thing" 1978 Ronnie Biggs – Lead Vocals On "No One Is Innocent" "Belsen Vos A Gassa" 1978 Malcolm McLaren – Lead Vocals On "You Need Hands" 1979 Edward Tudor-Pole – Lead Vocals On "Rock Around The Clock" "Who Killed Bambi" "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" 1979 Sid Vicious – Lead Vocals On "My Way" "C'mon Everybody" "Something Else" 1978 The Album Has Been Released In Different Variations Featuring Different Track Listings. There Have Been Two Main Versions Which Were Featured On Double-Album Vinyl And CD. The Biggest Differences Between The Track Lists Is That The Songs Are Re-Arranged And Version A Features "I Wanna Be Me" And The Dave Goodman Produced Version Of "Anarchy In The UK" While Version B Features "Watcha Gonna Do About It" And The Chris Thomas Produced Version Of "Anarchy In The UK". Version A Was The Most Common Track List Until 1992 Afterwards Version B Is The Most Common. A 2012 Reissue By Universal Incorporates Both Track Lists As It Features The Version A Track List With "Watcha Gonna Do About It" Added On To The End. Additionally A Single-Album Version Was Released In May 1980 To Tie In With The Release Of The Film And Featured A Different Cover And A Pared-Down Track List Which Excluded All Of Johnny Rotten's Tracks. Early Releases Came With A Copy Of The Original Movie Poster.
