Born In 1953 Christof Lauer Is A German Jazz Tenor Saxophonist Tenorsaxophon . Christof Lauer Is One The Important European Jazz Saxophonists. He Began Playing The Piano When He Was Six Years Old And Studied This Instrument In The Conservatoire In Frankfurt On The Main. In 1971 He Changed To The Tenor Saxophone And Studied It With With Dieter Glawischnig In The Graz College For Music. In 1979 Christof Lauer Became A Member Of The Jazz Ensemble Of The Hessian Radio Broadcasting And Played In The Jazz Band Voices With Heinz Sauer Bob Degen And Ralph Hübner. In 1993 He Was A Soloist To The NDR-Bigband In 1994 He Became A Member Of The United Jazz And Rock Ensemble In Which He Took The Place Left By Charlie Mariano And In 1996 He Joined The Albert Mangelsdorff Quintet. Christof Lauer Recorded Albums With Michel Godard And Mark Ducret As Well As With Jens Thomas Gyr Lysne And Other Artists. Christof Lauer Was Lastingly Affected In His Musical Development By Free Jazz And The Music Of John Coltrane.
