Calcei, a life long sneaker and Hip-Hop head hailing from metro Detroit, merged his two loves into an EP titled Laces in Tongues Out. Taking his name from the Latin word for shoes, Calcei dedicates songs to some of his favorite footwear including the Air Jordans 3 and 5, the New Balance 1500 and the Air Max 90 Infrared. With Jay Norm, Sheefy McFly and Reece on production, the EP has a Golden Era (1988-1994) sound, which Calcei grew up listening to. While being influenced by artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Common and J Dilla, Calcei's own personality shines through on his debut EP.
