Marcantonio Romano (c.1552-1636) was a 17th Century Dalmatian composer. In the late 16th and the early 17th centuries the cathedral churches of Split and Hvar fostered an active local school of composers ( Ivan Lukačić , ?1587 – 1648 ; Tomaso Cecchini , c. 1582 – 1644 ; Marcantonio Romano , c. 1552 – 1636 ), whose music reflected the characteristics of early monody and the Venetian style of the time.
