Hailing from the dark side of West London known as South Kilburn, with Ladbroke Grove a stone throw from his door step Steve Austin simply is Hip Hop in its purest form. Being raised on Groves back door exposed Steve Austin to a world that would forever captivate and embrace him. Steve Austin primary function within Hip Hop is MC, he has carried this title for 30 years to date with no signs of relinquishing it. This function in Hip Hop has blessed him with the ability to travel the world performing on stages some dream about as well as places some would not dare to go. The Hip Hop he creates can simply be described as Pure Form, like with the ancient un-tampered styles of martial arts. You will not find him singing hooks or rhyming over some tinkle bell beats. What you hear is Hip Hop, solid rhymes, heavy beats and good scratches… His secondary function within the world of HH is DJ, an accomplished scratch turntablist with good fundamental skills in the art form. Through his years as a Hip Hop artist Steve Austin also participates in the other three elements – Graffiti Art – B Boying and Knowledge (Wisdom and Overstanding). Outside of Hip Hop Steve Austin is a heavy contributor to the vocal and DJ aspect of the West London Sound (WLS) known as Broken Beat, with strong affiliations to Daz I Kue, 4 Hero, Bugz in the Attic, Mark De Clive-Lowe, IG Culture, Phil Asher, Benji B, Patrick Forge and more… Steve Austin is part and founding member of the musical unit known as Uprock Recordings, a unit of two outfits – The Soul Masters and Leaders of the Old School, who formed Uprock through their joint love of quality Black Music. Steve Austin has spent many years forming his craft in Hip Hop. Before Uprock Steve Austin had been part of different groups spanning a 28 year period. The Powerlords 1987 to 1988, The Powerpack (as leader) 1988 to 1990, Total Kaos (with M.A MAS) 1990 to 1991, TWINS (The Whole Inner Natural Sound) 1993 to 1996 and Espionage Team 1996 to 2000, and as with the change in groups came changes with his name. Starting off as MC Def G from Powerlord to Powerpack times, to Lord Omega 7 in the era of the TWINS through to who is known as today Steve Austin. Through-out this transition one factor remained the same and that is his solid friendship and musical partnership with DJ (formerly Dr) Bunny Bread (formerly of pioneering Hip Hop group Construction). Steve Austin started his musical journey at a young age first of all in his church choir and then as a poet before branching out into Hip Hop. Steve Austin has spent many years performing, touring and recording and has been fortunate enough to have blessed stages with great established artists such as Public Enemy, Ty, The Fugees, Krs One, Breis, Incognito, Big Daddy Kane, The Alkoholics, Redman, EPMD, Noel McCoy and Omar to name a few. As part of the UK Hip Hop scene Steve Austin has also worked with and performed with many of the pioneers such as The Demon Boyz, London Posse, Hi Jack, Overlord X, The She Rockers, Mc Mello, Dj Bizznizz, Dj Pogo and more. Steve Austin has released music over the year, the most noted were The Test Run EP (Bita Sweet) with Espionage Team 1999. Mastermind (Uprock Recordings) with Espionage Team 2000. Return Of the Cloak / Imagine This (Sick Trumpet) 2006. When Robots Go To War (Uprock Recordings) ft Ty and Motet 2009. Lin Chong Verses Kao Chiu (Uprock Recordings) ft Motet, Pesci and Breis 2009. As a member of Uprock Recordings Steve Austin has been part of the growth and promotion so events and club nights with Uprock holding some well respected nights, such as Jazz Refreshed, Instrumentals, Futurism, The Soul Power, The Theme Night and Room 4 Movement. The future for Steve Austin is simple Hip Hop rhymes over Hip Hop beats Enjoy.
