Transit City is the concept and brain child of electronic composer Oscar Finch. There was a strong academic background in my family. Luckily for me, we where fostered with the notion that being the best person you could be meant finding your place in the world and following your hearts desire. Somewhere along the way, I strayed from my chosen path, found myself lost and in something of a 'wilderness of self'. It wasn't until the late 80's and the house, techno and electronic music revolution of post early 80's 'synth pop' that I found my creative drive again and began to explore the notions of deconstruction, missappropriation, reconstruction and where it was I stood in the age of acclerated artificial generated environments. Having had a long time fascination with notions of hidden knowledge, definitions of the devine, physics, science, biological ecosystems and the impact of our social environment of the psyche, I set out with field recorder in hand, sampler in the studio and a handful of synths on a journey of discovery. "God called, he wants the cursor back" is the culmination of a good few years work. Spanning a period of intense introspection brought on by chronic illness and and episode in life which left me questioning the true nature of oneself in modern times. Equal parts humour, pathos and introspection, this is one man's attempt to reconcile human nature, with technology. Exploring philosophy, theology, the fundamentalist paradigm, jungian archetypes, particle physics, the nature of reality, dimensional time and space and where we stand as biological entities in the accelerating onslaught of technological singularity. Welcome to an excursion into the human condition, asking fundamental questions we all seek answers too, this is my manifesto, an 'audiobiography' of will in the face of human adversity. It's been a challenge, joy, heartache, catharthis and immensely wonderful journey. We often exist rather than live, as such life can be a burden shared alone. In this modern age living can seem counter intuitive and sometimes hard, this is hopefully a little reminder that life on the other hand is always beautiful.
