Asian Rock is a style of PluggnB which grew from the work of producers in the SoundCloud Plugg underground in the late 2010s. The style was pioneered and first coined by rapper/producer BenjiCold. It was later popularized by other artists in the SlayWorld plugg collective, namely rappers Goonie and Summrs. The work of producer AltoSGP has been credited with influencing the abrasive, dense percussion reflected in the sound.

Asian rock is characterized by its distinct production style which features dense snare and percussion rolls in combination with airy bells, synth plucks, and soaring synthetic guitar leads. The instrumentation and arrangements typical to the sound have been said to emulate music from Japanese movies and television from the 2000s (hence the name Asian rock). The aesthetic presented in Asian rock releases, as shown in cover art, profile pictures, etc., references much of the same media, most notably the movie バトル・ロワイアル [Battle Royale] and the live-action adaption of デスノート [Death Note].
