The Evik James Band is a melodic power pop rock trio based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, set this winter through summer to hit the surrounding venues, festival and radio markets. Their new release "Under Your Sun" is fresh off the press and ready to tear through the airways into the ears of fans ranging from Tom Petty, Weezer, AC/DC, to John Cougar Mellencamp. The band consists of highly explosive musicians. Evik James, is the lead vocalist and guitarist. Michael Fiato, handles bass and backing vocals. Jeff Thaves sits behind the drum set. The fresh and original music blends with interesting lyrics and sing-along melodies to create a musical cocktail that goes down easy. The first two radio-friendly singles from their full-length album are the title track "Under Your Sun" and "The Last Time". "I guess you could say I'm doing it backwards". Evik smirks as he finishes his lunch at a trendy restaurant in the North Loop District of Minneapolis. "I started this journey by writing songs with the intention of later finding a band to play them". He explains that most bands form and only then proceed to write songs. "Once I moved from Las Vegas to the Twin Cities, I decided it was time to recruit band members with the same musical ideas and tastes to play my songs and make a big splash in music scene here. The Evik James Band hasn't stopped since. With pressing their new release Under Your Sun, EJB is booking shows and festivals for this winter and beyond locally and nationally. The raw and energetic sound of his Replacements-like guitars, Rush-driven bass, Led Zeppelin-like drums are meshed with melodic vocals reminiscent of both Tom Petty and Weezer. Evik's musical journey began at the Musician's Institute in the heart of the music district in Hollywood, CA. Taught by the likes of Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and other prodigous guitarists, Evik was imbued with the knowledge and possessed witht the drive to put his passion out on the line. "I like playing Guitar Hero just as much as the next guy, but nothing beats writing and performing a song with a solid hook that anyone can sing along to, enjoy, and remember". After living and playing music in San Francisco, Hollywood, and Las Vegas, Evik has now buried his roots deep into the Minneapolis music scene. With meeting various connections throughout the Twin Cities and shifting through the piles of talent, EJB now consists of Evik James, Michael Fiato and Jeff Thaves. Michael is a New York native and has performed and recorded with notable groups such as the Silly Pillows. Jeff hails from the great state of Minnesota and is a solid drummer who has kept the beat for original and cover bands in the Twin Cities. With these guys molding the form of the rest of the crew, EJB is well-equipped to hit the music scene.
