Formerly known as Gas Money, Robot Taxi is the result of two guitarists , Daniel Hew and Vernon Dacosta, sharing their mutual appreciation of rock music. Between them the idea of forming a band was inevitable. After having recruited seasoned crooner Fabian Pinkney , drummer Akiri Cooper, and multi talented instrumentalist Andre “Spyda” Dennis to play bass, the band was formed. After having recruited seasoned crooner Fabian Pinkney , drummer Akiri Cooper, and multi talented instrumentalist Andre “Spyda” Dennis to play bass, the band was formed. With diverse musical influences ranging from The Stooges, Metallica, and Incubus to The Skatalites, The Wailers, and Stevie Wonder, the band has been musically compared to groups such as Maroon 5 and Incubus. Their resulting mix of guitar-driven- rock music infused with soulful vocals, has earned Robot Taxi a loyal fan base. Since their formation, Robot Taxi has played a number of live shows and high profile gigs such as the local morning television program Smile Jamaica, and the internationally acclaimed Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival. Their original songs, edgy covers, killer live shows and vibrant fan base, proves without a doubt that Robot Taxi will take it’s place as one of the premiere bands in the Yaad Rock music scene.
