Pop sunda is a form of pop music born in the island of Java in the 1970s which became internationally famous a decade later. In the 1980s the Sundanese composer Nano Suratno (a.k.a. Nano S.) reshaped pop Sunda to include performance in the pélog tuning system; he created a large number of hit songs that used traditional ensembles like gamelan degung, and successfully blended pop music with Sundanese traditional music. Detty Kurnia is the most prominent pop sunda singer.
