Artist Biography For Alex Slobodyanik

Alex Slobodyanik Is Recognised By Critics Audiences And His Fellow Musicians Worldwide As A Major Figure Among The New Generation Of Pianists. He Began Piano Lessons At The Age Of Six With His Mother Natalia And At Seven Entered The Central Music School In Moscow Where He Studied With Rene Shereshevskaya. On Moving To The USA In 1989 He Resumed His Musical Studies With Nina Svetlanova. He Went To Cleveland In 1991 To Study At The Cleveland Institute Of Music With Sergei Babayan Who Has Been His Teacher And Mentor Since 1985. He Is The Recipient Of The Grand Prize At The Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition And A 1996 Young Artist Award From The Gilmore Foundation. In 1990 Slobodyanik Became The Youngest Pianist At Fifteen To Win The Young Conert Artists International Auditions. At Eighteen He Made His New York Kennedy Center And Washington D.C. 92nd Street Y Recital Debuts. Since Then He Has Appeared With Such Orchestras As The National Symphony The Kirov Orchestra The New York Chamber Symphony The Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra For A Seasonopening Conert At The Cologne Philharmonic Hall And The New York Youth Symphony At Carnegie Hall. His Recital Engagements Have Included Appearances At London's Wigmore Hall The Academy Of Music In Philadelphia The Ambassador Auditorium In Los Angeles UNESCO Hall In Paris The Moscow Conservartory Hall. In 1998/99 He Made His Debut With The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Under Yuri Temirkanow And Joined The Moscow Philharmonix Orchestra For Several Acclaimed Appearances.
