Frogtoon Music - Song Info: Pan's Procession

The Track "Pan's Processesion" From The CD "Dreams From The Machine" 2005 By Falik Consists Of A Compilation Of Irish Bouzouki And Percussion Samples. The Bassoon Sounding Instrument Playing One Of The Main Themes Is A Sample That Was Edited At Both The Beginning And End Of Its Original Sample And Then Streched To Conform To Become The Desired Melody. The Irish Bouzouki Played Was His "Eloree" The One Used For The Majority Of The CD. It Is Tuned From Top To Bottom Aa Ee Aa Dd. Falik Considers This His Most Classically-Oriented Piece Due Primarily To Its Compositional Structure And The Lack Of The Ad Libbing Usually Found On The Majority Of His Other Compositions. He States That Every Note Was Composed Beforehand As Opposed To His Usual Style Of Organic Composing Where Layers Are Added Or Subtracted To The Composition In An Ad Libbed Fashion. Overall The CD Has A Very Calculated Feel To It And There Was Much Less Spur Of The Moment Creation As Far As Solos And Strumming Variations Were Concerned. However What Makes This Track And The CD Different In General From The Rest Of Falik's Catalog Is That Most Of The Creative Effort Went Into Track Layering And Production Values. Consequently This Track And The CD Have A Clearly Defined Mood Which Would Account For Its Popularity Among His Other Works.. The Title Came About After Falik Completed The Piece. He Said He Imagined That This Would Be A Suitable Theme For Pan. He Says He Has No Idea Why He Thought Of Pan. He Just Closed His Eyes And That Was The First That Popped Into His Head. "Pan Processing Through Woods In A Sort Of Parade With All The Other Wood Creatures In Attendance." The Track Begins At 14 53 Has A Duration 4 04 And Is Of Moderate Tempo.
