Longitudinal Expanse Is An Experimental Jam Collective Formed In 2010 In Waterbury CT. The Project Features A Revolving Cast Of Participants Credited Only By First Name. Despite The Fluctuating Membership Two Core Members Charlie And Kevin Are Present On Most Or In Charlie's Case All Releases. The Collective Exclusively Records And Releases Live Improvised Sessions. Instead Of Having Strict Instrumental Roles The Musicians Often Swap Their Instruments Between Sessions Or In The Middle Of Recordings. The Group Has Released Over 80 Of These Sessions Free To Stream And Download On Their Bandcamp Http //longitudinalexpanse.Bandcamp.Com And Curated A Series Of Tapes Through The Now-Defunct Tinnitus Records. Tinnitus Records A Label Formed By Charlie And Kevin Released The First Longitudinal Expanse Album "Selected Works" In May 2012 And Shortly Followed With Three More Album-Length Compilations And Two EPs Of Improv Highlights With The Most Recent Being "Illumination" 2014 And "Studies In Structure" 2013 . The Band Also Began A Series Named "Live Expanse" Featuring Entire Sessions Mixed And Mastered From The Original Multi-Track Recordings. While The Label Has Since Been Shut Down All Of These Releases Are Available On The Group's Bandcamp Page.
