Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin Native Pat MacDonald's Techno-Roots Future Has Been Bright For So Long His Shades Have All But Burned Out Under The Glowering Glare Of The Mainstream. He First Gained Notice In The 1980's As Half Of The Quirky Austin-Based Duo Signed To IRS Known As Timbuk3 With His Ex Wife Barbara. He Lately Claims His Influences To Be A Range Of Performers Including Ricky Nelson To Contemporaries Like Eric McFadden And The Late Chris Whitley As Well As All "the Beautiful Losers Misfits And Freaks I've Known And Loved..." He Has Written Songs For Artists Ranging From Cher To Aerosmith Recorded With Jackson Browne And Ryuichi Sakamoto Even Made A Whole Album Of Depeche Mode Covers Called Strange Love - PM Does DM. Other Albums Include 1998's Sleeps With His Guitar And 1999's Begging Her Graces And Degrees Of Gone. His Recent One Man Band Exploration Troubadour Of Stomp Done On Acoustic Guitar Accompanied By Simple Harmonica Blasts And Boot Stomps. Is A Fan Favorite. His Gypsy-Like Existence Has Found A Devoted Cult Following From Cities Ranging From Barcelona To Berlin To Back In Door County Wisconsin He Is Fond Of Sparse Arrangements And Working With Well Chosen Collaborators Like Wally Ingram Or John Parrish PJ Harvey / Sparklehorse . His New Release "Purgatory Hill" Is Played Entirely On The "Lowebow" Which Consists Of Two Poles Attached To A Cigar Box Strung With One Bass String And Three Guitar Strings.
