Ashley Sloggett was born in Hamilton, Ontario, but currently resides in the neighbouring suburb of Burlington, Ontario. She is classically trained in a variety of vocal styles, plays a Taylor acoustic guitar as her primary accompaniment, and is sometimes found playing a wine-red Fender Telecaster. Ashley came onto the music scene as a solo artist in 2005, when she released her debut EP, simply titled "The Demos". Until this point, she had fronted local punk, hardcore and emo bands, but never played a live show with any of them. It was at the decay of her last band Two Thousand Strong, and a few years of theatre school, that she honed in on her songwriting and guitar playing to start performing solo under her own name. Ashley has played with acts ranging anywhere from metal to country, including: The Ataris, Silverstein, Gordon Lightfoot, The Reason, The Saint Alvia Cartel, .moneen., The Junction, Ten Second Epic, The Artist Life, Cain & Abel, Dead & Divine, Lacerda, Machete Avenue, Blind Witness, Shiloh, Leslie Carter, The Flatliners and more. She has toured Canada coast-to-coast, has done several Northern US tours, and has done a series of in-store performances for the major retail chain "Hot Topic" in the United States. She has released three albums to date, "The Demos" (Independent, 2005), "The Never Releases" [a collection of b-sides and unreleased songs] (Independent, 2008), "The Annum EP" (Blacktop Records, 2009); with her fourth album set to release Summer 2011. An eclectic mix of pop, southern-rock, punk and folk, her current repertoire of songs has been noted as her "best effort at songwriting to date". She is working with producer Ian Blackwood (Jersey, The Artist Life) at Lime Green Studios, and has recently severed ties with her record label in hopes of a fresh start for her new release.
