Meeshelle Newell, flame haired Highlander from Inverness is a singer and performer of high quality now developing a reputation as an emerging solo artist of some repute. Stunning of face and beautiful of voice, Meeshelle sits comfortably within the pop,soul, jazz and funk arena and Craig Charles of BBC6 Music after watching Meeshelle live recently remarked "what a singer we've got there." This was backed up by dance music DJ phenomenon Carl Cox who invited Meeshelle and her band to perform at a private function for him and his guests. It seems Meeshelle has always been in music and has been a consistent performer on the Highland music scene over recent years, she has had spells in a range of bands including Inverness favourites Low Tide Revelry and she currently fronts the impressive 8 piece funk and soul outfit The Leonard Jones Potential who are making a splash across Scotland and beyond attracting attention from aforementioned Craig Charles amongst others. Now this charismatic twenty something is working closely with a local dynamic group of songwriters and producers. Meeshelle is currently the first artist to be signed to a new Inverness based talent development outfit Magic Soul Productions. She is busy recording her first album, doing photo-shoots and working hard on promotion. Some of Meesh's solo material has been showcased on recent 'stripped back acoustic' live sets to great applause. Most recently guesting as support artist to soul legend Candi Staton on the Highland leg of her world tour. A debut single release is planned for September 2013 and anticipation from fans is building. Followed shortly after by an album that will capture the power and purity of an exceptional singing talent. 2013 promises to be a phenomenal launch year for Meeshelle. She hopes to build on this into 2014 and beyond. This Highland export, building on the success of the film 'Brave' seeks to put Inverness and the wider Highlands on the musical map.
