Up until recently, The Mayo Monster was just a hobby project by Joe Mayo AKA joeEFFINGmayo. Now, The Mayo Monster is back in the studio, producing new material for all to enjoy. Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Joe Mayo spent most of his days doodling with his headphones on, drowning out the chaos that was his home. The oldest of 4 boys, Joe was responsible for keeping his brothers out of trouble and often times escaped his responsibilities by blasting music. Often times, he would steal his mothers mix tapes and listen to an assortment of early 90's dance mixes. His first project, The Mayo, was heavily influenced by early dance music and hip hop. Eventually the project morphed into hardstyle dance music. Unhappy with the direction his projects were taking, he went on a hiatus. Nearly a year later, he returned to his music with a different mindset and different influences. He took an alternative route and began experimenting with music genres. Once he developed a sound he liked, he felt it only necessary to change his name. He used a nickname given to him by a close friend and The Mayo Monster was born. His first EP was The Toy Factory EP, which was simply a collection of some of his experiments. His Track, "Pieces of.." especially helped shaped what he wanted from his music. His 2nd Ep The Monsters Within EP was everything Joe wanted it to be. The Ep was a fusion of several genres including classical, hip hop, ambience, techno, and even film scores. The Mayo Monster is currently working on multiple projects and hopes to release a new EP in the near future.
