Guitar oriented, Lyric Driven, Bass Pounding, Drum Bashing Hard Rock / Melodic Metal with audible lyrics and hooks - that is The Mighty Swine! Following his success with CJSS and Chastain, Mike Skimmerhorn found himself playing with mediocre bands for the last several years and becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the current scene going on in and around Cincinnati, Ohio. Wanting to get back to his original roots of writing and performing Hard Rock / Heavy Metal, Mike spent nine long months piecing together the outfit that would become The Mighty Swine. Influenced mainly by 70's and 80's hard rock / heavy metal, Mike first stumbled across drummer, Dann Norris, in September, 2007. With the drummer in place the two began their quest for a guitarist. Having played with critically acclaimed guitarists in the past, this would prove to be no easy task. Placing an ad in a local musicians forum produced David Byrge; a long time and well respected lead guitarist from Dayton, Ohio. David's guitar playing proved to be exceptional and the group started booking dates around the Cincinnati area. Gaining a quick following and their own female only fan club entitled the Swinettes, the guys decided to begin work on their original material. The Swine released their debut CD on Broad Horizon Records, Inc. in October 2009. The first single, 'Layin' Down the Law' made Hard Rock Nights Best of 2009 Playlist and earned the Swine opening slots for LA Guns, Skid Row, Dokken, Adlers Appetite, and Godsmack / F.F.D.P. Tragedy hit the band when they lost their beloved Carly, daughter of drummer Dann Norris, and the band struggled to keep a guitar player. After going through Doug McComas and Marty Bates without releasing any new material The Swine went on hiatus in the fall 2010. In Dec. 2011 The Swine recruited guitar virtuoso Joe Riley (Liquid Fire) and began work on their new single entitled LUST / PAGAN HOLIDAY emerging with a darker, heavier, sexier sound more akin to Godsmack, FFDP, and Black Label Society. Billed as a cross between Megadeth & Satriani, the new & Improved Mighty Swine is back and better than ever. Catch them out on the road in a town near you.
