Hardcore band from, Long Island, New York United States Formed in 1995, Cleanser played a brutal cross between death metal and Hardcore music that was ahead of it's time. They mixed Hardcore/Metal & Melodic parts to create a unique sound. Derek from Neglect's metallic riffage, Keith's unique drumwork, mixed with the very unique vocals of The one and only Christian McKnight brought a style of metalcore that was new to the scene form 1995-98. This sytle is very popular today & Cleanser was one of the bands to start it all. In July of 97, Cleanser's bass player was Dave. Formally in a death metal band called Afterbirth and also plays in Brown 25. DEREK was also involved with his other band ARKHAM which released a 7". Releasing 2 full length CD's, 1 7" & 1" split 7" with Neglect (Derek's Band) & appeared on various comps. Some of there releases can be found on None Of The Above Records & Elevator Music. They toured Europe in 1998 w/ Arkham 13 (Derek's other band st the time), & Chemical from Italy. They played shows all around the tri state area with bands like: Earth Crsis, Snapcase, Vision of Disorder, H2O, Glassjaw, one4one, 25 ta Life, Bloodlet, Supertouch, Indecision, Yuppicide, to name some. They disbanded shortly after their european tour in 1998. They played a reunion show in January of 2004 at The Downtown in Farmingdale, Long Island with Underoath & The Chariot.
