Active between 2015 and 2018, Matriarca was a band from Florianópolis, the capital city of Santa Catarina state in Brazil. The band blended numerous influences, presenting a varied repertoire that encompassed everything from hard rock, heavy metal, glam, and punk to thrash, black, and death metal. To describe their sound, they coined their own genre: extreme rock n' roll. The band made their live debut in 2017. Later that same year, after their fourth and final live performance, they decided to focus on entering the studio with producer Júlio Miotto from Calamar Sounds to record "Leather Heart," their debut EP. At that time, there was a strong desire to professionalize their work and take their music abroad where they believed there was a larger market. However, in 2018, after the recordings were finished, personal matters involving Lucas Miranda, the band's guitarist and composer, who founded the band with vocalist Willian Bernardo, led the band to enter an indefinite hiatus. As a result, "Leather Heart," released on October 30, 2019, became the testament of a band that was no longer active.
