Roger Brainard, guitarist, singer, writer and darn good cook combines melodic guitar and voice in a natural, improvisational style. With roots in R&B, Reggae, Gospel, and Rock and a delivery honed by years of gigging and studio work, Roger’s sound is assuring and powerful. His voice, steeped in cross cultural influences reflects his passion and commitment but there is little doubt that Roger’s main vehicle of expression is his guitar. There is a lot of guitar in music today, but there is not much guitar-centric music. Roger is often compared to Santana, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler. In Roger’s own words: “I always feel complimented by the comparisons”, and laughingly adds: “I wonder if folks ever tell Carlos or Eric that they sound like me”? Based in Atlanta Roger has collaborated and performed with numerous artists such as Angie Aparo (the Prince of Americana), Caroline Aiken (the Queen of Indie Folkies), Alpha Blondy band (West Africa’s Reggae Kings), the eclectic acoustic duo Elephants Gerald, members of Mylon Lefevre's Broken Heart band and several iterations of his own band. He has performed at such notable Atlanta establishments as Eddie’s Attic, the Freight Room, CJ’s Landing, the Roxy Theater and at major events and festivals such as the Peachtree Road Race Main Stage, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Macon Ga’s Cherry Blossom Festival, Ga Music Hall of Fame and all points in between. Early on Roger received the Certificate of Merit from the American Song Festival for the pop/rock ‘They’re Watching You’. Since then he has written well over 150 songs including co-writing 60+ songs and recording 5 CD’s with Michael Hughes as the ELEPHANTS GERALD. Although Roger only claims credits on 12 albums he contributed to 100’s of projects during a 5 year tenure as guitarist/producer at Little River Studio. CHECK US OUT AND SPREAD THE WORD
