Soniko Waira was born in the city of Kitu (the sacred place of the centered sun), a place very closed to the equator, the land of the mighty condor. Growing up in this city of 3 million people he learned the negative effects of being disconnected from the natural world and this was the trigger for the awakening of his spirit and the searching for what he felt was something bigger then himself. Soniko's main artistic channel is music. His sound is a mix of different influences, rhythms and styles, bringing to live the spirit of Turtle Island. His passion for the arts has led him to create and work in a variety of projects over the years. Soniko has recorded and produced four CDs all original and collaborated in many other productions with different musicians. In 2013 he started the conscious practice of TAKYSAMY or the ancient Andean art of healing with melodies and harmonic sounds. His teacher in this sacred art is Shairy Quimbo, one of the last practitioners of this discipline, he lives in Otavalo, Andes.
