The genre is sometimes considered a direct subgenre of post-hardcore, and it is often related to or confused with electronicore. Horse the Band are credited with creating the term in 2000 to describe their eclectic sound consisting of metalcore and chiptune elements, however the band wouldn't actually utilize the sound until their September 2001 demo I Am a Small Wooden Statue on a Patch of Crabgrass Next to a Dried Up Riverbed.
2. Nintendocore (also known as video game rock, nintendo rock and video game metal) is a term for rock bands who do video game covers or are video game cover bands. Artists include The Advantage, The Megas, Kirby's Dream Band and Entertainment System. It sometimes includes the original composers of covering their own songs (such as Nobuo Uematsu's groups The Black Mages and Earthbound Papas). The first band to do cover a video game song was indie rock band Autoclave with their cover of Paper Boy.
