Drift Flaw is a one-person music band, with multi-instrumentalist Patrick Cheatham playing keyboards, electric guitar, and electronic percussion. Patrick composes songs for release one instrument at a time, and layers these parts digitally. Patrick performs using only one instrument, allowing his Digital Audio Workstation to automate remaining instruments as originally composed. Patrick's choice of music band name springs from a context for flaw differing from the standard take on the word - as representing negativity or ugly defect - and instead honors a personal philosophy recognizing the magic of imperfection. Flaws from impossible perfection apply to all things in life, and lend character to everything. Our flaws and the flaws in life are what we are made of - making us human. All humans are defiant flaws in any conception of a standard normal perfect person. Nature's deviation from idealized cloned absolute perfection provides uniqueness, freedom, and beauty to all. The yield (or give and play) between all things and actions, the power to deviate, and the continual decay of the moment’s situations with change and time, are imbued in flaw principles, physics, and the nature of our personal ways and surrounding environs’ character. Drift Flaw album themes often aim at such issues as wilderness and urban nature, beauties often looked over, wellness and vitality, mental brain illness hardships, and personal liberty. Tracks stand as fusions of Rock, Ambient, EDM and Metal genre styles. Drift Flaw music involves smooth electronic pads and crisp lead synthesizers, many changes of direction musically, predominantly classic rock style percussion, and usually refrains and re-attacks with percussive parts. Drift Flaw aims to make music that has refreshing and engaging cadence, with surprising or spontaneous pauses, switches, and resets to song instruments, melodies, and percussive parts.
