Kate Grealy is an Australian soul and hip hop influenced artist who has been based between Australia and Indonesia, building connections with artists and audiences across both countries. Not My Job To Make You Happy (featuring Candice Monique) is her latest release. It has been supported across Australia and Indonesia by independent radio. Other recent work features beats by Indonesian producer Alex Sinaga of D.P.M.B and the Hellhouse Crew, collaborations with hip hop legend Ching Rock (Lone Travelers), formerly of Brooklyn-based supergroup The Arsonists. Kate’s musical life as a performing artist began in the regional town of Albury-Wodonga as a clarinettist with her High School's band. After taking up the guitar at fifteen she started to write and began performing her original compositions at the age of sixteen at open mic afternoons. She was signed to a record label in her final years at High school and released the EP Menagerie through them. This EP reflects the observations of a teenager making the transition from country to city life. In 2015 Kate recorded her second EP, Promised Land, in the Central Javanese city of Jogjakarta in collaboration with Indonesian rock band Jasmine. Following the release, Kate performed with some of Indonesia’s top musicians and songwriters including Bondan Prakoso, Anda Pradana, Hellhouse Crew and more. She also co founded the Australia Indonesia Hip Hop Coalition at this time. Kate performs regularly in Melbourne, has toured regional Victoria and New South Wales and Java in Indonesia. She has also and appeared at several festivals and community events across Australia and Indonesia. In her spare time Kate works on music in a vocal trio with two of Melbourne's most exciting emerging songwriters Eva Popov (Hello Satellites) and Rene Sephton in The Halcyon Tide (see the links page for their website). "Kate Grealy is the light in my fridge when I open it to get another beer" - Hilary Simmons “Very relaxing, melodic … So much talent, so young” (Cathy Bedford, ABC’s Drive program).
