NEGATIVE XP, real name Alan S. Kim (originally known as school shooter) is the creator of "incelcore" and leader of the now-defunct music collective MKULTRA SUPPORT GROUP (MSG420) from Georgia, USA. He created the group with the purpose of giving visibility to lesser known artists that he enjoyed who were playing a similar style of music on SoundCloud. Kim began playing guitar at the age of 24 and coined the term "incelcore" in a Tweet in 2018 to describe his music.

The genre was formally established with the release of the compilation album MSG, Vol. 1 in 2019. Kim began making music in 2015, the following year he recorded an early demo for his song "Cry For Help" under the alias 'kilmaan' and posted it on Soundcloud. He later made vaporwave music under the alias Ecco Plus and DaDa_Digital, initially gaining recognition in the underground vaporwave scene with his material being reposted on the infamous vaporwave archive channel "Vapor Memory". He then changed his name to "school shooter" and "shooterdude69", releasing music under both aliases before settling on NegativeXP. Kim also had a side project in 2019 named "ROPEFUEL" which focused on incelcore songs sang from the perspective of a woman.
