The Affected Affections are singer-songwriter Chris Wilson, his ex-wife Nechama Levy, and her ex-boyfriend Andre Joel Paul. They craft subtly complicated rock songs, which they perform at intense levels of volume and emotion. They play loving songs of love and its wrongs. Chris & Nechama met in college, where they were both paying dearly for the privilege of wasting their youth. In 2006 they moved to New York City and married. This was unfortunate because they married each other. Chris joined the band You Aren’t My Mother, through which he met Andre. Chris and Nechama’s romance imploded, driving Chris to new heights of songwriting mastery and driving Nechama to pick up the drums out of jealousy. Nechama dated Andre for a hot minute. Chris and Nechama didn’t speak for a year. In 2007, Chris sent Nechama an email proposing a thaw in relations. They began playing music together as The Affected Affections. Andre joined the band soon thereafter. A few cycles of mental breakdowns, band member changes, and personality clashes followed, but the band bounced back, coalescing around its original membership and beginning to write and play seriously in March 2009.
