Treehouse Orchestra hails from Berkeley on the San Francisco Bay, nestled comfortably away from the city’s madness, yet never too far away to indulge in its possibilities. Consisting of seven members, all of different musical backgrounds and preferences ranging from jazz and funk, to indie rock and electronic music, Treehouse aims to reflect the textured individuality found in each one of the members while creating a sound that will appeal to a wide audience. This fusion of different influences breeds collaboration and begs cooperative effort with each member of the group writing ideas for songs and the rest of the band collectively completing each piece. Treehouse Orchestra began in the summer of 2010, as the group of Bay Area migrants decided to convert their second story, two-bedroom apartment into a recording studio/jam space. Living on peanut butter and canned beans, the first few months were spent sculpting not only their sound, but also the direction they wished to take. From folk ballads to progressive instrumentals, they began recording material and booking shows around the East Bay, gathering band members, experiences, and ideas along the way.
