Tri-$tate emerged into the hip hop world in 2004. The movement was initially to restore the high quality of material that was once occupied by the genre. The group Tri-State consists of 2 members, "J. J Humpfry" from Newark, N.J and "J.F.K" from The Bronx, N. Y. While pursuing higher education, these young men arrived at Benedict College. The older member of the Group J.F.K, postponing his 2004 graduation, met J. J Humpfry the following semester.

Tri-$tate emerged into the hip hop world in 2004. The movement was initially to restore the high quality of material that was once occupied by the genre. The group Tri-State consists of 2 members, "J. J Humpfry" from Newark, N.J and "J.F.K" from The Bronx, N. Y. While pursuing higher education, these young men arrived at Benedict College. The older member of the Group J.F.K, postponing his 2004 graduation, met J. J Humpfry the following semester. The young men met through extra-curricular activities(Becoming Members Of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated), and through casual conversation they acknowledged that they had a deep affinity for hip hop. They had similar views of the accolades of its past, and concerns about its present and future conditions. Fearful that the creativity of the culture would continue to be compromised, they formed the group Tri-$tate to anchor a solution. With witty metaphors, up-tempo signature sound, and a realistic/at times humorous narration of there underprivileged neighborhoods, Tri-$tate stands to be a force in the near future.
