AFRAID Was Formed In Portland ME In The Spring Of 2011. Theirs Is A Music That Defies Easy Categorization Centered On Hypnotic Bass And Layered Ghostly Vocals Played At Dirge-Like Tempos And Cloaked In Droning Loops. With Equal Footing In Sleazy 20th Century Gutter Rock And Contemporary Pitch-Black Experimental Transgression They Write Music At Once Paranoid And Trance-Inducing Beautiful And Violent. After A Series Of Early Singles And EPs Including A Collaboration With Jarboe Their Debut Full-Length Entitled 'Sinister Vibes' Was Released By The West Virginia Based Cassette Label Crash Symbols In March Of 2015.
