Artist Biography For Ari Brown

Ari Brown Was Born In Chicago Illinois On February 1 1944. In 1968 He Received A Bachelor Of Music Degree From Vandercook School Of Music In Chicago. Mr Brown Plays The Tenor Alto And Soprano Sax As Well As Flute Clarinet And Piano. He Is A Teacher Composer And Arranger. He Has Taught In The Chicago Public School System Columbia College Chicago Urban Gateways The Chicago Conservatory Of Music Olive Harvey City College The University Of Illinois At Chicago Where He Is Currently Teaching. He Is Also Currently Involved With The Jazz Institutes Mentoring Program. Ari Began His Music Career In 1965 Playing Soul Rock And Blues. In 1971 He Switched To Jazz And Performed With Muhal Richard Abrams The Awakening Chuck Berry Della Reese And Many More. He Has Played Around The World And Done Jazz Residencies In Singapore Bordeaux France And Brazil. He Has Performed In Such Major Venues As The Smithsonian Institute Newport Jazz Festival Village Vanguard New Yorks Blue Note Chicago Jazz Festival Millennium Park Jazz Series Feature Artist With The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Numerous European Festivals Etc. Ari Has Received Four National Endowment Awards NIAA Certified Gold Record And Is A Member Of The AACM. He Has Recorded On Over 100 Albums Cds And Has Recorded Three Of His Own The Latest Of Which Is Ari Brown Live At The Green Mill Dellmark Records 2007.
