Frogtoon Music - Song Info: Das Me

The Music Video For 'Das Me' Premiered In October 2012. Brooke Candy Aims Through This Song To Turn The Derogatory Term For A Woman 'slut' Into A Compliment By Using It To Describe A Lady Who Is Sassy 'sexy' 'confident' And In Control Of Her Body And Lifestyle. 'Das Me' Focuses On The Idea That A Woman Who Has Sexual Passions And Desires Should Not Have To Hide Away But Rather Be Proud. Dances Like 'twerking' Are Fundamental To This. Brooke Is Also Bisexual So She Defends Equality Rights For All Kinds Of Sexuality. The Song Lyrics Juxtapose Career Concepts Such As CEO And Drug Dealer Together To Emphasise Positions Of Empowerment Through A Wide Range. Humour And Satire Are Used. The Song's Words Transform Traditional Gender Roles Putting Women In A Position Where They Are The Decision Maker. Brooke Candy Aims To Create An Image Of A Carefree And Happy Lifestyle Where "slut Shaming" Will Not Become An Issue. There Are Typical References To Rap Culture As One Might Expect To Be Included Too Such As The Use Of Recreational Drugs Weapons And Mobs. However These Arguably Do Not Detract From The Overall Aim Of Brooke's Music To Convey A Sense Of The Outsider Being Considered As The New Cool Person. Owen Myers Of Dazed Digital Describes 'Das Me' As 'the Next Step In... Cyberpunk Odyssey' As Brooke Wears A Very Futuristic Gold-Plated Outfit And Bright Pink Hair Braids In The Video.
