Artist Biography For Colorlist

Colorlist Is A Crossover Jazz Duo Comprised Of Charles Rumback And Charles Gorczynski. The Two Perform And Record Together In Their Home City Of Chicago. Both Multi-Instrumentalists Rumback Mans Percussion Bells And Melodica While Gorczynski Plays Saxophone Numerous Woodwind Instruments Synthesizers And Harmonium. These Many And Varied Instruments Are Often Heard In Unison Layered Upon One Another Using Digital Production Techniques. The First Colorlist Recordings Made Publicly Available Were Released As A Lavish Triple CD Box Set 'Constant Change' Self-Released In 2006 And Now Much Sought-After. In 2008 They Worked With A Long List Of Collaborators Including Matt Lux Of Iron And Wine Jason Ajemian Of The Chicago Underground Trio And Josh Eustis Of Telefon Tel Aviv On Their Album 'Lists' - A Defining Body Of Work Revealing A Broad Range Of Influences. Rumback's Skittering Percussion Tracks And Gorczynski's Masterful Sax Playing Clearly Identify These Two As Gifted Jazz Musicians But There Can Be No Denying The Influence Of Post-Rock Ambient And Electro-Acoustic Music On Their Arrangements And Production. 'Lists' Was Followed In 2010 By 'A Square White Lie' A Sparser And More Pensive Album Than Its Predecessor But No Less Curious Or Beguiling. In April 2011 Colorlist Released 'The Fastest Way To Become The Ocean' On Welsh Label Serein Www.Serein.Co.Uk . Once Again Joined By Collaborators The Four Track EP Features Guitarist Jeff Parker Of Tortoise On 'Nine Lives' A2 While Liz Payne Lends Vocals And Melodica To The Closing Track 'What We Have Left' B2 . The Tracks Were Mixed By Long-Time Colorlist Cohort Josh Eustis.
