Dash & Will Is An Alternative Singer/songwriter Duo From Melbourne Australia.
Dash Charlie Thorpe And Will Josie De Sousa-Reay Got Their Band Monikers From What They Would Have Been Called If They Were Boys. They Began Performing Together After Meeting At An Arts College In Inner-City Melbourne When Charlie First Began To Learn Guitar.
Their Musical Connection Began When They Started To Cover Michelle Branch Songs Together And Work On Harmonies When They Sang Which Has Become A Key Element In Their Songwriting Today. They Were Put Into Contact With Indie-Country Queen Barb Waters And Recorded A Demo With Her.
The Following Year At 16 Years Old The Girls Entered Their Demo Into MusicOz A National Competition For Unsigned Acts. Coming Second Overall They Then Took The Demo To Barry Palmer A Melbourne-Based Producer And Former Guitarist With Hunters & Collectors And Deadstar Who Was The Parent Of A Schoolmate.
Just Over A Week Later Palmer Called The Girls And Offered To Sign Them To His Music Production Company Gigantically Small. Following A Couple Of Years Of Small Gigs A New 5 Track Demo And Showcases To Labels Dash And Will Signed To Mercury Records Through Universal Music Australia.
Dash And Will Headlined The 2008 Rock The Schools Tour Across New South Wales In May As Well As Supporting Ben Lee Matt Costa And Faker's Nathan Hudson. Their First Single Pick You Up Was Released In August 2008 With Debut Album Up In Something To Be Released In Late 2008.
Dash And Will Supported British Indie Rockers The Kooks On Their Australian Tour In August And September 2008 And Have Been Announced As An Act To Play In The Long-Running Summer Festival Homebake 2008. Citation Needed In September 2008 The Duo's Version Of The Easybeats' Somethin' Wrong Was Released On Easy Fever A Compilation Of The Easybeats Classic Songs Performed By Australian And New Zealand Artists.
