Diefenbaker Is The Name Of More Than One Artist
1 From Baltimore MD. 2 From The UK 2 Baltimore-Based Diefenbaker Was Born In 2009 When Canadian Exile Shari Fedak Came To Baltimore On The Trail Of Her Father's Killers. Lead Singer And Synth-Nerd Shari Recruited Guitarist And Compulsive Songwriter Jeff Malice Electron Master And Bassist Brendan And Drummer Justin Thyme. The Band Quickly Conjured A Mix Of Garage Rock Postpunk And New Wave Over A Base Of Britpop And American Alt-Rock With A Hint Of Everything Retro. Or As They Put It "New Order And The Replacements Cover '96 Tears'." In October 2010 Diefenbaker Self-Released A Five-Song EP Entitled "Diefenbaker's Day Off." The Band Has Also Released A Live Acoustic EP And Is Currently Working On Their First In-Studio Album. 1 Diefenbaker Are Aiming To Create A Modern Acoustic Sound That Incorporates The Aggression Of Rock But Also The Delicacy And Poise Of Classical Music Without Betraying The Simplicity And Authenticity Of Folk. As Yet They Have Opted Not To Include Any Form Of Percussion Electronic Or Otherwise So As To Preserve A Natural Spontaneity Of Rhythm And An Almost Impressionistic Minimalism. Although Their Earlier Songs Are Mostly Short Straightforward Minor-Key Tunes Diefenbaker Are Gradually Developing A More Dynamic Style Which Is Likely To Include A Wider Variety Of Instruments And A Greater Breadth Of Changes In Ambience.
