Artist Biography For Electric Brother

Electric Brother Lives In Bucharest Romania. He Has Studied Classical Guitar Played With Different Acid Jazz/house Bands In Romania And In 1999 He Began Working On His Solo Project Called “Electric Brother” – Trip-Hop Downtempo Chill-Out. His Influences Vary From Folk Music To Dub From The 70’s Jazz Rock To Contemporary Classical Music. After Graduating From The Faculty Of Letters In Bucharest He Started Working As An Audio Producer For Yama Studios In 1998. His Projects Here Include Radio And TV Commercials Music For Short Films And Corporate Films. Many Of The Soundtracks Produced By Yama Have Received Awards And Nominations In National And International Advertising Festivals. In The Same Time The Studio Got Well Known For Producing Most Of The Underground Electronic Music In Romania. They Also Organize Parties And Events With Electronic Music. Together With Matze And DJ Vasile He Forms A Band Called NSK In 1998 And Soon Becames Famous For Playing Electronic Music Live And Always Being In Touch With The New Trends And Orientations Of Underground Music. After The Release Of Their First Album “The Green Project” They Play In Romania Together With Faithless Slacker Weird Beats Collective DJ Matt Silver Etc. In 2000 They Release A New Album Called “We Have To Dance!”. They Play All Over Romania In Novisad Yugoslavia And They Win The First Prize In The Prestigious “RFI Nouvelles Decouvertes” Competition. Electric Brother’s Solo Project Ranked Second. As A Result NSK Have A Concert In Paris @ Queen’s And In Lisbon @ Lux/Fragil With Alex Gopher And Coldfinger . With The Recordings Of The Two Concerts RFI Released An Album Called “NSK Paris – Lisbon”. Following The Success Of The Concerts In Paris And Lisbon They Are Invited To Play In The 2001 Periferias Festival In Spain With Ready Made F Communication DJ Patiffe Bossacucanova Etc. At The Beginning Of April 2001 In Hamburg Germany Universal Released A Compilation Entitled “Besame Softly Chillout Tunes” That Features Electric Brother’s Song “My Little Angel”. In The Summer Of 2002 Electric Brother Was Again On The Second Place In The RFI “Nouvelles Decouvertes” Contest. A Compilation With All The 10 Finalists Released By Le Maquis Musique Features 2 Songs By Electric Brother. Another Compilation Released By The Delta/RFI Radio Station In Bucharest Also Features His Song “Azi Ma Vad Auzit” Together With Fellow Romanian Electronic Artists. TV5 And RFI Released A Compilation Entitled “Couleurs De Bucarest” In August 2002. Electric Brother Is Present On The CD With His Solo Project As Well As With His Band NSK. “Besame Vol. 3” - Released By Universal Music/Pop-Up Records In Germany Has Invited Electric Brother To Contribute Again With One Of His Works. This Time It Is A Song Called “Saudade”.
MCD Brasil Released The Compilation “Café MAM-SP Volume 2” Museu De Arte Moderna - Sao Paolo . Electric Brother Contributes With A Song Called “Tristete”. Other Names Include St. Germain Alexkid And Bugge Wesseltoft. Together With DJ Mike Radio Host And Nu-Grooves Dj Electric Brother Started A Series Of Live Sessions That Aim At Putting The Dj-Set In A New Perspective Vinyl Records And Instrument Improvisation. DJ Mike Spins The Funky Bossa-Nova And Modern Jazz Records While Electric Brother Improvises On The Guitar. The Sessions Are Performed In Various Clubs Around Bucharest Including The Famous Web Club And The Trendy Amsterdam Grand Café. In February 2002 A Collaboration With Vlaicu Golcea Double Bass Sorin Romanescu Guitar Marta Hristea Vocals Raul Kusak Keyboards And Cri Stanciu Samplers Led To The Forming Of A New Band Aievea – Oriented Towards Modern Jazz And Groove Trying To Make The Audience Feel Jazz In The Feet Rather Than The Brain. The New Mixture Of Classic Themes Traditional Lines And Modern Beats And Breaks Make It An Interesting Live Act. Aievea Was Awarded The “2002 Best Romanian Jazz Band” By The Society Of Romanian Broadcasters. They Finished Recording And Producing Their Debut Album “Scared Of Jazz” Released In June 2003 In Collaboration With La Strada Music Electric Brother Also Composed The Music For J.M.Synge’s “The Playboy Of The Western World” Directed By Nona Ciobanu For The Bucharest National Theatre For The Romanian Feature Film “Marfa Si Banii” Directed By Cristi Puiu And Nominated In 2000 In The Cannes Festival. Together With NSK His House Band He Wrote And Performed The Music For Italian Fashion Designers Max Mara And Pal Zileri. In 2002 Electric Brother And Vlaicu Golcea Double-Bass Wrote The Soundtrack For Another Romanian Film Production ”Furia” – Directed By Radu Muntean One Of The New Breeds Of Romanian Filmmakers . Electric Brother Is Releasing His Debut Album At The Beginning Of July. The First Release Concert Was In One Of The Most Prestigious Jazz Festivals In Europe - The Montreux Jazz Festival – Where EB Was Invited To Play In The Opening Night. The Live Set In The Montreux Jazz Club 4th Of July Features EB Samplers Guitar Marta Hristea Vocals And Vlaicu Golcea Double Bass . These Two Musicians Both Contributed To The Electric Brother Album As Well As Brigada Artistica Urbana B.A.U. Fom Timisoara. The Debut Album Produced By La Strada Music Has Been Released In Romania On The 11th Of July 2003.
