Artist Biography For Empirion

"Empirion" Formed In 1993 After Austin Morsley Aka "Oz Morsley" Greatly Missed Bobby Glennie Who Sadly Passed Away And Jamie Smart Met Each Other On The Essex Club Scene. There Are Not A Lot Of Electronic Dance Albums Eagerly Expected By Their Fanbase 23 Years ! After The Release Of Its Originators' Only Album But "RESUME" Is One Of Them. This May Well Be Due To The Fact That With Their 1996 Debut "Advanced Technology" "Empirion" Managed To Gain Respect In The Electronic Dance And EBM/industrial Scenes Alike - A Rare Achievement To Be Sure. Another Reason Might Be The Timeless Masterpiece That Is The Remix Of The Prodigy's Hit Single 'Firestarter' Which Is Still Capable Of Filling Dancefloors Even Two Decades After Its Release … Or It Is Because Austin Morsley Got Some Impressive Mainland Europe Credibility With His Project KLOQ" In The Meantime? Whatever Might Be The Case The High Regard In Which The Crowd Still Holds The Essex Duo - Consisting Of Austin Morsley And Jamie Smart - Is Remarkable. Correspondingly "RESUME" Harks Back To Empirion's Legacy As Much As It Addresses The Very Topical Struggle Between Man And Technology 'I Am Electronic' And Our Universal Angst 'Hate The Hate' . Therefore The Band Appears To Be Even More Relevant Than It Was Back In The 90s. "RESUME" Turns Out To Be A Smasher Of An Album - A Stylish Hybrid Between Dance And Industrial Retro And Modern At The Same Time Influenced By Bands Such As Future Sound Of London Nitzer Ebb And - Of Course - The Prodigy While Still Maintaining Empirion's Individuality. After Almost 25 Years Since Their Foundation The Two-Piece Keep Pushing The Boundaries Of Electronic Music They 'Tear Down These Walls' In The True Sense Of The Word And The Spirit Of 1996… And With The Sound 2019! To Begin With The Band Self Published Through Their Own "Wanted" Label But With The Success Of "Narcotic Influence" The Band Soon Signed To "XL Recordings". Often Overlooked In Favour Of Label Mates "The Prodigy" "Empirion" Certainly Had An Influence At That Time Fusing Hard Techno And Industrial With Acid House - The Sound Of Many Underground Dance Venues Of That Period. In 1997 They Released Their Debut Album "Advanced Technology" Through Beggars Banquet In A Major Label Deal. They Disbanded Shortly After The Release Due To The Loss Of Bob Glennie To Illness. Sadly Bob Passed Away In January 2005. Debuting With The Acid-Trance Rocker "Narcotic Influence" Which Was Voted One Of The 100 Greatest Dance Singles Of All Time By No Lesser An Authority Than Mixmag Empirion Formed In 1993 At An Essex Club Featuring Resident DJ Jamie Smart. Smart Who Had Spent Time Bumming Around With The "The Prodigy"'s Liam Howlett The Two Both Worked At A Car Wash Met Up With Reformed Industrialist Bob Glennie And Rock & Roller Oz And The Trio Soon Formed Wanted Records Recording "Narcotic Influence" In Just Two Days. Unlike The Prodigy However Smart Glennie And Oz All Take An Equal Part In Recording And Running The Label. Later Singles "Quark" And "Ciao" Furthered The Band's Reputation As Forward-Thinking Dance Hooligans And Smart's DJ Sets At Prodigy Shows Also Increased Their Fame Until Beggars Banquet Signed The Trio To A Major-Label Contract. The Debut Album Advanced Technology Was Released In Early 1997. Oz Morsley And Jamie Smart Reformed In 2010 And Have Released A New EP Single In 2018 And Just Released The Amazing New Album "RESUME" Aug 2019.
