Artist Biography For Enrico Fink

Enrico Was Born In Florence In 1969 The Great-Grandson Of A Jewish-Russian Refugee Who Served As Cantor In Many Italian Synagogues. After A Variety Of Musical Experiences In Groups Ranging From Funk-Rock To Contemporary Music With Pauses To Complete A Degree In Physics The Encounter With Klezmer And Yiddish Song Directed Him Back To His Roots. Since Then He Has Devoted Himself To New Interpretations Of The Jewish Cultural Tradition Finding A Path Between "radical" And Traditional Which Uses Both Music And Musical Theater As Means Of Expression. In Addition To Performing Enrico Devotes Much Time To Teaching - Among His Engagements He Regularly Holds Since 2003 A Jewish Music Workshop At The Bertinoro Summer School Of Music And Teaches History Of Jewish Music At The University Of Jewish Music In Rome. He Has Performed As A Singer And As A Flutist With A Variety Of Bands Throughout Europe And North America And Has Created A Number Of Theatrical Productions. On The Column On The Left You Can Find Links To Many Of His Different Projects As A Brief Summary He Has Written The Musical Plays "Lokshen / Patrilineare" 1998 - Published As His Forst Solo CD In 2000 For Materiali Sonori "Lev" 1999 "Purimshpil!" 2000 "Yonah" 2002 - Awarded A Grant By The European Association For Jewish Culture For The Play "Le Ombre" The Shadows He Was Awarded In 2003 The Special Marisa Fabbri Prize By The Premio Riccione Italy's Foremost Playwriting Award He Starred In Moni Ovadia's Thater Company One Of The Main Companies In Italian Contemporary Theater In 2000 For "Tevye Un Mir" And From 2002 To 2004 As Motl Kamzoyl The Taylor In Italy's First Production Of The Blockbuster "Fiddler On The Roof". In 2005 He Published "The Jazz Singer's Return To Faith" A New Solo Album For Materiali Sonori Focusing On A Very Personal Approach To Jewish Tradition - And In Particular Italian Jewish Music - Based On A Variety Of Different Languages From Classical To Electronic To Jazz. From The Same Year He Also Performs With Lucidarium One Of Europe's Leading Early Music Ensembles The Collabporation Started For The Program "La Istoria De Purim" Which Was Published As A CD In France For K617 In 2006 A Concert Devoted To Italian Jewish Music And Poetry In The Renaissance. Aside From The Already Mentioned "Lokshen-Patrilineare" "The Jazz Singer's Return To Faith" And "La Istoria De Purim" His Publications Include Also "Klezmer" Frame Records 1997 Where He Sings With The Tuscany Philarmonic Orchestra "Black And Blue" Arpa 1998 Together With The Jazz Vocal Ensemble "the Jubilee Shouters" "La Mutazione" 1999 With The Tacitevoci Ensemble Contemporary Music Directed By Bruno De Franceschi.
