Esperarte by Franz Asensi

Artist Biography For Franz Asensi

Singer Song-Writer Born In Valencia Spain One Of The Last Old-School Musicians Of His Generation Regarding Attitude His Music Includes A Wide Variety Of Styles From "depressive" Slow Ballads To Agressive Alternative-Punk-Rock Catchy Tunes. A Loner By Definition Has Recorded Most Of His Songs By Himself Writing Arranging And Recording All Instruments At His Home Studio Although Jordifreek Has Put His Talent To His Services On A Few Brilliant Guitar Tracks And Joan Gadea Jimi Hernandez And Jordifreek Himself Had Joined Franz To Form The Band "Allan Poets" For Some Live Gigs.
Franz's Influences Started When He Started Listening To His Brothers Cd's "Get A Grip" By Aerosmith And "Unplugged In New York" By Nirvana. Kurt Cobain's Unique Voice Trapped Him Into Alternative Rock In General And Nirvana In Particular. Mudhoney And Sonic Youth And Nirvana Of Course Became Favourites Of His Early Days As A Composer When He Funded The Band "Make Some Are Us" With His Close Friends Sergi Estelles And Abel Zaragoza. They Recorded A Demo Very Dark And Raw Sounding With Nirvana's "Bleach" As Reference Although Some Other Spanish Hard Rock Bands Did Have Some Influence In Their Sound Too.
Franz's Taste For Music Kept Broadening Thanks To "Mak" From Mak Y Los Desertores' Local Band. David Bowie The Velvet Underground Led Zeppelin T-Rex And All Sort Of Glam Rock Was The Basics Of What He Was Listening At The Time We're Talking 1999-2000 Here And All Of This Can Be Glimpsed At Their Second Demo Recorded With Their Gig's Savings And Ending Up Being A Fiasco. They Didn't Like How The Guy Who Ripped Them Off Ripped Them Off And That Bad Atmosphere Opened Old Scars Between The Band Members Like The Drummer's Struggling To Keep On Tempo Or The Bass Player's Wishes To Play Guitar And Sing.
Franz Decided Finally To Quit The Band For Several Reasons Among Them His Will To Dedicate His Life To Music As His Mates Were Clearly Interested In Other Things Like Their Studies Or Girlfriends.
He Took The Name Franz Asensi In Tribute To His Mum's Surname And The Franz Bit Comes From His Real Name "Francisco" But Since His Fair Complexion Always Made Him Wonder Where His Genes Came From In The First Place He Adopted The German Version. It Also Sounded Better For A Hypothetical Musical Career.
He Then Bought A Sound Card For His Computer And Started Recording Immediately Learning On Its Own His Way Onto Cubase And Trying To Find New Sounds And Inspiration From His Pathetic Life Of No Real Job-No Real Love-No Real Future Sadness.
After A Few Years Including His Adventures In Ibiza Where He Recorded A Few Songs His Love For Sound Had Evolved Up To The Point In Which He Saw His Chance Of Living Off The Music From Becoming A Sound Engineer.
He Had Been Working For Some A/V Provider Companies Doing Live Events And The Like And In A Few Years He Was Operating The FOH Desk For 2 000 People In 24 000W Sound Systems.
Oxigenated By His "new" Passion Franz Decided To Move To London And Try Luck There With His Mate Joan Gadea This Is September 2008 . They Started A Band With Simon Jackson Called "Angry Lovers" And They Even Played A Gig In Camden's Bullet Bar Where Simon And Franz Worked As Bartenders But Simon's Up-And-Downs Provoked An Early Break-Up.
Later In 2009 Franz Found Another Chance In A Band Where He Just Played Guitar The Electro-Sleazy-Pop Das Fluff. He Played With Them For A Handful Of Gigs Around London Did A Photo Session With Them And Even Travelled To Berlin For A Gig There Shame That The Rest Of The Members Couldn't Fly Because Of The Weather Really Bad Conditions... After Almost A Year And Being Accepted In A Music Technology Degree At The London College Of Music Franz Left The Band For Good And Dedicated Himself To Study And Play-Record By Himself Again.
His Knowledge About Music And Sound Never Stopped Growing And Now With A Renovated Home Studio And With The Degree Finished Franz Is Going To Come Back Hopefully With Some Good Tunes.
