Artist Biography For John Scofield Band

Formed In 2001 This Incarnation Of The John Scofield Band Featured Drummer Adam Deitch Guitarist Avi Bortnick And Bassist Jesse Murphy. The Foursome Toured And Recorded "Uberjam " Which Was Released In January 2002 On Verve Records. The Subsequent Record "Up All Night" Released In May 2003 Also On Verve Featured Scofield Deitch And Bortnick Together Again Joined By Andy Hess On Bass Guitar. This Particular Band Is Notable For Being One Of Scofield's Only Two-Guitar Ensembles A Decision He Says Was Largely Due To His Wife And Manager Susan Scofield's Enthusiasm For The Idea. "Uberjam" Features A Significant Contribution From Keyboardist John Medeski Of Avant-Groove Trio Medeski Martin & Wood Playing Clavinet Hammond B-3 Organ And Mellotron On Several Tracks. This Album Marks The Second Collaboration Between Scofield And Medeski The First Being 1998's "A Go Go" Verve Records Recorded With Medeski's Bandmates Drummer Billy Martin And Bassist Chris Wood. Scofield And MMW Collaborated Again In 2006 - As Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood - On The "Out Louder" Album Indirecto .
