Artist Biography For La Dispute

La Dispute Is An American Post-Hardcore Band From Grand Rapids Michigan Formed In 2004. The Current Lineup Is Vocalist Jordan Dreyer Drummer Brad Vander Lugt Guitarist Chad Morgan-Sterenberg Guitarist Corey Stroffolino And Bass Guitarist Adam Vass. With A Firm Passion For The Concept Of Music And Art As A Medium For Making New Friends La Dispute Makes Music That Is Both Artistically Technically And Emotionally Engaging In Hopes Of Establishing Legitimate Connections With Any And All Interested People While Encouraging Dialogue Between Those People And Themselves About Things In Life That Truly Matter And That Truly Last. La Dispute Also Carries A Firm Passion For The Relevance Of A Live Show Both For The Bands Involved And For The People In Attendance And Will Go To The Grave Believing That The Environment Created When Strangers Come Together Despite Their Differences To Celebrate One Important Thing Is Invaluable And Should Not Under Any Circumstances Be Taken For Granted.
Their Style Combines Elements Of Post-Hardcore And Screamo In A Very Experimental Way To Something That Can Hardly Be Put Into A Single Genre. Their First LP Somewhere At The Bottom Of The River Between Vega And Altair Was Released On November 11 2008. The Album Was Recorded At Studiotte In Grand Rapids By Joel And Troy Otte. In Late 2011 They Released Their Second LP Called Wildlife Which Has Also Been Added As An Accompaniment To The #224 Issue Of The German "Visions" Music Magazine.

Liner Notes All Music Written And Performed By Vass On The Following Instruments Kevin's Electric Guitar In Standard Tuning An Electric Bass A Melodica Bells 3 Books A Pencil Sharpener And A Sharpie Brand Permanent Marker Against Paper.
Bass Was Plugged Directly Into Brad's Interface. Guitar Was Played Through Kevin's Peavey Amp And Microphoned. The Bells And Melodica Were Each Recorded With A Different Microphone In A Different Room. The 3 Books Flash Forward By Robert J. Sawyer Y The Last Man Trade Paperback Volume 1 By Brian K. Vaughn And Vass’ 2006 Valparaiso High School Yearbook Had Their Pages Flipped And Their Covers Slammed And Rubbed Near The Internal Microphone On Vass' Laptop Computer All At A Separate Location In Valparaiso IN Along With The Pencil Sharpener And The Sharpie Drawing . These Sounds Were Then Sequenced Digitally Into The "drum Beat" Of The Song. All Lyrics Written And Read By Jordan And Dedicated To AMV And All Of His Amazing Friends Particularly Those Present On The 7th Story All The Way Back Then . As Well As To Anyone Anywhere Reading This.
