To Tell You The Truth by Scarlet Sunset

Artist Biography For Scarlet Sunset

The Band Has Its Roots In 2006... Technically Probably Just An Idea To Be In A Band As Kids Do... The Original Line Up Was Jake Sayer As Lead Vocals Elliot Cox And Shane Smillie On Guitar And Joe Wood... On Drums?.... Back Then The Band Was Called "Dead In Water"... Or Some Shit Like That We Had Two Practices Yeah? ... The Real Scarlet Sunset Story Starts A Year A Two Later...
The "band" Started Again In Late 2008 Around Christmas Time. The Original Line Up Was Made Up Of Joe Wood - Vocals/Bass Elliot Cox And Shane Smillie - Guitar. Your Typical "Best Friends Start A Band" Scenario Although The "band" Was Un-Named And Totally Unofficial In Every Way . Joe Ell And Shane Began Writing Songs Which Included "What Was Made" And "Time And Time Again". The Band Had Their First Gig In Highschool Part Of Royston High Schools "X-Factor" And Lets Just Say It Wasn't Exactly Brilliant. After That Things Slowed Beside The Occasional Practice And The Use Of "What Was Made" As Part Of Joe's GCSE Music Coursework By Which Point A Whole Year Had Passed.
First Year Of College 2009 Saw The Introduction Of Drummer Chris Leak And Bassist Billy White. The Band Had Finally "formed". The Band Was Still Nameless And In All Honestly Achieved Little Mostly Due To The Chaos Of Starting College. 2009 Was Very Quiet.
Throughout 2010 The Band "continued" In Its State Of Suspended Animation Until October. At Which Point Drummer Amanda Lassu Joined The Line Up Quickly Followed By Former Bassist Karl Yates. Things Picked Up Dramatically Gaining A Fanbase By The Dozens On A Daily Basis. We Secured A 7 Song Set List And Finally Chose A Name "Scarlet Sunset". Our First Gig As A Re-Formed Band Was In February 2011 And Was A Bombshell! We Got About Recording An EP With Former "That Sunday Feeling" Guitarist Steve Orant. Since Then We Have Secured Great Shows On Some Great Regional Festivals And Some Big Venues With Great Bands. We've Had Multiple Regional Radio Plays! We Also Had A Swap-Around In Early May Where Guitarist Shane Smillie Proudly Swapped For Bass With Karl Yates Much To Kar'ls Enjoyment Being A Guitarist At Heart.
Late May 2011 We Saw The Unfortunate Departure Of Drummer Amanda Lassu Persuing New Horizons And Founding New Band "Goodbye Sky Harbour". Amanda Was Replaced By To Much Of The Bands Shock Joe's Older Brother Will Wood To Which We Owe Thanks For Lyrics Of "To Tell You The Truth" . The Band Slowed Down It's Heavy Gigging Schedual And Began Writing New Songs And Solidyfying The Live Set Ready For Some Major Gigs In The Coming Months.
July Saw The Introduction Of New Permanent Drummer Adam Davis And Two Of The Biggest Gigs Of Their Career! Wakefield Black Flag And Sheffield O2 Academy. The Band Played With The Likes Of Penguin And Marsicans At The Black Flag And That Sunday Feeling Neon Sarcastic GO-X And Forever And A Day At The Sheffield O2! The Band Continued The Busy Month With The Crowedge Music Festival And M-Festival In Barnsley. With Plenty Of Gigs Under The Belt Now Scarlet Sunset Prepared To Take Things To Another Level.
Throughout The Rest Of Summer Scarlet Sunset Were Quiet. Karl's Operation Meant That Many Practices Were Missed. Instead Of Playing The Band And Its Close Group Of Friends Used This Time To Bond And Concentrate On Things Outside The Band For A While It Was A Much Needed Break For The Band. In September Original Member Shane Smillie Decided To Part Ways With The Band To Find A Job Leaving Just Two Of The Original Members. Soon After The Band Saw The Arrival Of James Bottom On Bass. The Band Polished The Set List And Headed Out Into The World Again... And The Story Continues. . .
