Artist Biography For Scott 4

Scott 4 Were Formed In 1995 By Scott Blixen Ed Tilley And John Moody. Their First Mini LP The Beautifully Titled Elektro Akoustic Und Volksmechanic Came Out On Satellite/Soul Jazz And Was Righty Loved By The NME And Other Critics. The Band Had By That Point Established Themselves As A Formidable Live Act On The London Scene. A Confusing But Effective Combination Of Country Folk Old Skool Electronics Punk Rock Hip Hop Beats Krautrock Repetition And A Certain Fall-Esque UK Indie Classicism Set Them Apart From Their Post Brit Pop Peers That Arrived At The Same Time - Badly Drawn Boy The Beta Band Etc. Their Full-Length Debut Recorded In State LP Was Very Well Received In Spite Of A Deliberate Move Away From Their Early Lo Fi Sound. Amongst The Highlights The Debut Contained The All Out Cut'n'paste Groove Attack Of Deutsche LP Record A Melody Maker Single Of The Week As Well As The Heartbreaking Ballads Aspirins And Miss Goddess No.2. Once Signed To V2 Their Second Album Works Project LP Was A Critical If Not Commercial Triumph - Successfully Cementing Their Unique Sound In A Record That Paid Tribute To Kraftwerk And Johnny Cash In Equal Measure. To This Day Works Project LP Remains One Of The Most Criminally Overlooked Indie Albums Of The 1990's. The Dynamic Of The Sound Changed Considerably When Lead Guitarist John Moody Left The Band In Late 1999. Now A Duo They Were Then Also Dropped By V2 But Made A Firm Comeback With The European Punks LP A Sublime Collaboration With Mysterious Folk-Gospel Group Magic Car That Still Demands A Wider Audience. The Band’s Final Incarnation The Scott 4 Free Rock Orchestra Released A Joyous Record In 2005 Entitled E-S-P Which Unfortunately Sank Without A Trace.
