Artist Biography For Shannon Connolly

Shannon Got A Head Start In The Music Scene When She Started Performing As One Half Of The Pretoria- Based Acoustic Duo Syrens At 16. Syrens Went On To Share Stages With Big Name SA Acts Like The Awakening Matthew Van Der Want And Chris Letcher Kaolin Thomson And Anika. Later After Syrens Went Their Separate Ways Shannon Went To Europe Where She Tested The Waters In London Busked The Chilly Streets Of Galway Ireland And Spent Two Summers Playing On The Picturesque Greek Island Of Ios. Since Her Return In 2006 Shannon Has Immersed Herself In The Durban Music Scene Playing Regularly At Venues In And Around The City.
She Has Performed To Enthusiastic Crowds At Three White Mountain Folk
Festivals And Played Alongside Some Of Durban's Finest Artists Including Barry Thomson John Ellis Of Tree63 The Pixie Bennett Band Thirty-Three Shannon Hope Shomon And More. Experimenting With Different Sounds For Her Original Material The Result Is An Eclectic Blend Of Folk Blues And Country Glistening With Shannon's Sometimes Quirky Insights Into Life And The World Around Her. Shannon Released Her Debut EP Entitled "Little Seed" In Early 2009. The Album Was Recorded At Omega Studios In Durban And Features Steve Murray On Lead Guitar And Jerome Govender On Bass Guitar And Percussion. 2009 Also Saw Shannon Teaming Up With Jerome On Bass Guitar And Her Sister Siobhan Connolly On Backing Vocals.
The Trio Has Gone On To Become A Tight Unit Experimenting A Strong Blues-Country-Based Sound.
In 2010 Shannon Commissioned John Ellis Of Tree 63 Fame To Produce Three Full Band Tracks For Her. The Three Singles Will Be Released On Radio In The Coming Months. Shannon And The Band Hope To Record The Remainder Of The Album During That Time.
