There Is Recognizable Ellington Influence In Oliver's Work And His Understanding Of Duke Is Displayed Throughout This Interpretation. The Unusual Shadings Timbres And Dark Hues That Duke Uses Are Given Full Lustre By Oliver Nelson And Shirley Scott. This Treatment Of Blue Piano Is Most Tasteful And Tender. Shirley Demonstrates A High Technical Level Of Her Playing And It Stems From Her Studies At Ornstein School Of Music In Philadelphia...She Was An Excellent Pianist As Well.
