Artist Biography For Ta Jana Z Velké Ohrady

The Band Was Founded In Velká Ohrada Prague In June 1996 As A Trio Of Ta Jana The Author Vendelín Tůma The Pianist And Roman Pluhař The Drummer. Six Weeks Later They Played Their First Gig Made Up Of Five Songs In Svojšín Near Stříbro. In October 1996 They Opened For Their Friends’ Group Franta Kasl Band In The Legendary Prague Club Of Malostranská Beseda Where The Double Bass Player Of The Host Band Přemysl Vágner Joined The Group. The Same Month Ta Jana Z Velké Ohrady The Original Trio Recorded Their First Demo-Tape In Vintage Studio. Five Other Songs Played By The Complete Quartet Were Added Later 1997 . The Demo Was Well Accepted By The Audience By Fellow Musicians As Well As By Music Journalists. In 1996-7 The Group Got A Contract In The Legendary Prague Semafor Theatre Where They Performed As Often As Once A Week In A Program Called "Song In The Title Role". Trying To Get Known The Band Played At Porta A Well Known Czech Folk Music Festival. In 1997 They Were Awarded The Jury Prize And In 1998 The Prize For The Development Of The Genre. In 1999 Ta Jana Z Velké Ohrady Recorded Her Debut CD "From Midnight Till Three" In Kocour Studio Which Was Released At Black Point Music Recording Company Label. In 2000 The Debut Was Awarded As The Third Best Record In The Category Of "Alternative And Ethno Music" At The Czech Music Academy Awards 1999. Ta Jana The Singer Was Proclaimed The Best Female Singer Of The Year By The Prague Fortnightly Of Culture "14". The "Rolling Stone" Magazine Listed The Album Among The Top Ten Records Of 2000. In 2002 At Black Point Music Label Again In Collaboration With Ivan Vojta A Piano Player The Second Album Called "Half-Length“ Was Recorded In Hostivař Studio. It Was Awarded As The Album Of The Year By Well-Known Czech Independent Music Publicists Josef Vlček And Petr Dorůžka In Rock Elections 2002 And For The &musiQ Magazine. During 2003 The Post Of The Piano Player Was Occupied By David Bidlo Who Enriched The Group Sound With A Bassoon Too. In This Constellation And At The Same Label The Third CD "Under The Threshold" Was Recorded In 3bees Studio In 2006. Josef Vlček A Renowned Music Publicist Has Placed Ta Jana Among The Top Ten Czech Female Singers Of The New Generation. In 2006 The Group Celebrated Its 10th Anniversary With A Festive Concert. At The End Of That Year David Pleva A Violinist Replaced The Founding Member Roman Pluhař The Drummer. In The Meantime They Played And Played And Played Not Only In The Czech Republic But In Slovakia Hungary Austria And Germany Too.
