There Are Several Bands Called "The Agents" 1. The Agents Bristol 1980-1983 The Agents Were A Post-Punk Band Formed In 1980 In Bristol England. The Band Formed From The Remnants Of Several Bands That Were Playing The American Military Bases Circuit In Europe In The 1970s. The Band Were Based In Mannheim Germany And The Lineup Consisted Of Vocalist Swig Real Name Richard Snow Guitarist Dave Libby Bassist Larry Burr And Drummer Nick Bahra. The Band Were Known For An Exciting Live Act And Built Up A Big Following In Europe. In 1981 They Released "Everybody's Gonna Be Happy" A Single Printed In Green Vinyl With A Gatefold Sleeve.The Album Of The Same Name Release The Same Year On Teldec Sold Well Around Germany. The Lineup Was Expanded In 1982 With Keyboard Player Steve Libby Brother Of Dave From Bristol Band Stereo Models Moving The Sound From Post-Punk To New Wave. They Returned To The Studio In 1982 And Recorded Several Tracks For The Follow Up Album See Audio Files Below . However Due To Lack Of Promotion By Teldec The Band Decided To Change Record Labels. Years Of Touring Europe Had Taken Its Toll On The Band And They Returned To The UK But Split Up Before Finding Another Deal. The Album Everybody's Gonna Be Happy Was Never Released As A CD And Teldec Has Been Taken Over So It Seems Unlikely That The Album Will Ever Be Re-Released. However Secondhand Copies Of The Album And Single Are Popular With Collectors Of New Wave Music. 1 Richard Snow Dave And Steve Libby Went On To Form The New Wave Electronic Band Force Majeure. The Agents London 1995-2005 The Agents Formed In London In 1995.The Original Line Up Consisted Of Malcolm Litson On Vocals Carl Dinesen On Bass And Wendy Murphy On Drums.Malcolm Litson Is Graduated From Kingson Art School In 1994.He Met A Canadian Carl Dinesen Through A Small Ad In The NME.Carl Was Working In The Intimate Soho Venue The Borderline.They Shared A Similar Obsession With Punk And New Wave Bands Such As The Clash And Joy Division.They Hooked Up With Wendy Murphy Who Lived Highgate North London.They Practiced In A Sucession On London Rehearsal Studios.The First Gig They Played Was The Six Bells In Brentford.Their Second Gig Was Played In Covent Rock Garden Featuring A Bill That Included A Judas Priest Cover Band.
They Went On To Play Gigs In Venues Such As The Camden Underworld Camden Barfly And The Borderline.
Time Out Published A Guerilla Projection Of The Bands Logo On The Houses Of Parliament.
The Agents Had Several Line Up Changes Including Nick Collings Drums Greg Darling Guitar Paul Jones Drums Jean Gabriel Becker Keyboards Scott Huegel Bass Jarz Bass With Malcolm Litson On Vocals. The Agents Regularly Played Underground Gigs Around East London.One Notable Gig In The Old Blue Last Included The Agents The Rakes Simian Mobile Disco And Paloma Faith All On The Same Bill. This Was Before Vice Magazine Took Over The Pub And Scores Of Hipsters Claimed It As Their Own. Much To The Band's Bemusement A Blearly Eyed Pete Doherty Wandered Into The Soundcheck And Promptly Left After One Song.
The Agents Produced Two Rare Self Released EPs. The Secret EP And Secondhandgrenades Released On Random Records Their Own Label.
The Agents Discontinued After 10 Years After Drummer Paul Jones Left To Teach In Bristol.Other Members Of Band Continued With Their Own Musical Projects.Jean Gabriel Becker Formed Blase Records And Set Up His Own Recording Studio.Jarz Peforms And Records As A Singer-Songwriter With His Band Tini Houdini.Malcolm Litson Played Guitar In London And Paris For 'Cristine' Stephan Lebenson And Robert Schultzberg Placebo .He Then Went On To Work With Mulitimedia Collective 'The Light Surgeons' And Produce And Perform Electronic Music Under The Moniker 'Bitvert.'
