Artist Biography For The Dance

The Dance Were A Spin Off From The Band The Model Citizens. After A Brief Career And An EP Produced By John Cale The Model Citizens Split Into Polyrock And The Dance. Both Drew Inspiration From The Minimalist Movement And Philip Glass Produced Some Of The Polyrock Albums.
The Dance Had An EP Dance For Your Dinner And Two LPs In Lust And Soul Force. The Band Was Funkier Than The Typical New Wave Bands Of The Era And Fronted By A Sexy Eugenie Diserio. Drummer Fred Maher Also Played On Early EPS And Albums As A Member Of Bill Laswell's Material Around The Same Time. The Band Was Eugenie Diserio Keyb Voc Steve Alexander Gt Voc Thomas Doncker Gt Voc Jim Martin Gt Louis Watterson Bs Voc Robey Newson / Fred Maher Drums Releases 1. Dance For Your Diner 12"EP Go-Go 1980 2. In Lust LP Statik 1981 3. Soul Force LP Statik 1982 The Dance Also Backed A 13 Year Old Girl Named Chandra Oppenheim On An EP And For Some Live Gigs. Steve Alexander Studied With Chandra's Father Sculptor Dennis Oppenheim And He And His Band Were Invited To Play A Party At Oppenheim's Home. Their Daughter Chandra Liked The Band And Collaborated With Them For The 4 Song Transportation EP Released In 1980. There Are Other Artists With The Same Name 1 The Dance Is A Theatrical And Expressive Dutch Band. The Music Is A Mix Of Pumping Beats Electronic Sounds And A Distinctive Voice.. 2 The Dance Is A Finnish Indie Band.
